Play Soccer So They Can

On the 25th-27th of September of 2009, we launched a grassroots community effort to support development of youth who have been affected by war.

What is it?

A community, where people of all ages, come together to play soccer to support youth who have been affected by a 20 year conflict in northern Uganda.

Why are we doing it?

To raise funds to support local programs, in communities recovering from the effects of war, that use (and need) soccer to build peace and  gender equity amongst their youth.

Who can get involved?

School teams and clubs; local soccer and sport teams; community groups; groups of friends; and, anyone else who wants to play soccer in their community so that youth who have been affected by war can too.

More information about the event is available in this 2 page doc.

If you are interested in being a part of this community, please email us at OA@oaprojects.org.

For more details about the community, for event ideas and about how the support will be used, have a look at this How To

**Over $3,000 was raised during the first year of Play Soccer So They Can, which will be used to support the development of local youth-led, and soccer-based peacebuilding framework, in northern Uganda. Read more about the project here: Gum Marom Phase II_2010_OA.**

Invite your community to play soccer and give war-affected youth increased opportunities to help bridge the divides created by the 22 year conflict in northern Uganda.
