Gav fills us in on his and Duncan’s upcoming preliminary trip to Rwanda.
—
Hey All,
Just wanted to give you an update on where things are at with Project Rwanda.
Duncan and I will be heading to Rwanda for the month of April to really get things cooking. In addition to about 3 weeks in Rwanda, we will also plan to spend another 10 days split between Uganda and Tanzania. The trip is about connecting with local organizations; about getting an understanding of the people, culture, environment, and local infrastructure of Rwanda (and the surrounding areas); and about identifying potential sites where OA could build soccer fields and distribute soccer balls.
We are currently building an itinerary for our time there: We will be connecting with local organizations that are doing great work in a variety of areas with the idea that we will be able to learn different things from different organizations and then apply that knowledge to what we do. These areas of action will range from environmental work to local infrastructure improvement (e.g. waste/water services) to HIV-AIDS education to sport/soccer related programs.
During our time, we will be creating a massive amount of online media content by Twittering, Blogging, Flickring, and YouTubing.
More information will follow over the course of the next couple of weeks; so, until then, send us your initial thoughts and ideas about this trip.
